Hello TBGA families,
We are pleased to announce that Marguerite Gagnon and Andréa McDonald have been hired as Co-Executive Directors for Samantha's maternity leave. Marguerite and Dréa will take on the role in a 50/50 time capacity. They began their role this week working with Sam to learn the in's and out's of TBGA.
A little bit about Marguerite and Dréa - they are a mother and daughter team. You have probably seen Dréa in the gym, as she was our Masters team coach for 2021-2022 season and also owns Superior Cheerleading (also using our gym). She has coached and managed in a number of gymnastics clubs (outside of Thunder Bay). Marguerite has worked her whole life in the gymnastics world. She has coached competitive programs across Ontario, is a level 10 Women's Artistic Gymnastics judge, and was part of Gymnastics Ontario's policy writing committee for many years.
Fun fact...Cairine Budner (one of our founders) was Dréa's grandmother.
We are excited to welcome Marguerite and Dréa to the TBGA team! They can be reached directly at tbga.executivedirector@gmail.com or by calling the office staff and leaving a message.
We also wish Sam rest and relaxation prior to the arrival of her girls, and best wishes for her time with the babies. We will miss you Sam!

Caregiver & Tot Programming Rules
Here is a friendly reminder of the rules that pertain to the following classes: Caregiver & Tot Drop in, Rolli Polli Babies, Tumble Bugs, Busy Bees & Pre-School:
- Only one adult on the floor per child. Insurance coverage does not cover more than one support adult per child. That said, you can always tag in someone else in each lesson.
- Please always stay with your child, assisting them to stay with the group, to stay on task, and to avoid off-limits equipment to prevent injury.
- Sibling Infants must stay in their carrier or be worn. We understand that some families need to bring their infants to their sibling’s class however, if they are not enrolled in the class, they must be secured at all times. Infants are not permitted to be crawling in the gym as they are not covered under insurance. You are always more than welcome to bring a family member or friend to watch the infant from the lobby.
- Please stay on the same event as the rest of the group. For safety reasons, it is imperative that you stay with the group so that you are both visible by and within ear shot of the coach who is responsible for the group’s overall safety. Your coach will frequently provide next steps and safety instructions that you don’t want to miss! For example, on Trampoline, we require all families to stay on the edge of the trampoline to maintain the safety of each child on the trampoline. That said, we understand that waiting is a skill! And we know it won’t always be perfect, but we encourage you to stay with the pack and practice.
- Be aware of other groups. In addition to the point above, on Saturdays we keep a very tight rotation schedule. If you are on an event that is not the event your group is on, you are taking away equipment/space from another group.
- Parents are not permitted on the equipment. Your role is as a supporter only and the equipment used by our Caregiver & Tot programming is often are not designed to support the weight of an adult. However, if you are interested in trying out some flips, we strongly encourage you to attend our Adult Drop in on Tuesday nights from 8:30-9:30pm!
- Photography is NOT permitted unless previous consulted with the instructor to ensure no other child is in the background of the photo/video.
- Keep staff in the loop. If you need to leave the gym to use the washroom or leave early, please let the instructor know so they can adjust the group headcount while you are out of the gym. Also, if you know you will be absent for a class, feel free to send us a quick email at tbgatwisters@tbaytel.net or leave a message at (807)628-8474

Hello TBGA Community!
Thank you to everyone who has supported us this fall! It’s been so lovely seeing everyone’s faces again. As we look forward to the Winter 2022 session, we wanted to take the time to go over a couple of new items, rules and reminders.

Please note: the doors will remain locked in the evenings for safety reasons and office staff will come to greet you 10 minutes before your class starts.
To exit, please access your items through the wet room from the lobby and exit through the Exit door only.
Please remember, to keep the flow going please arrive no earlier than 5-10 minutes before your set class.

Entrance/Exit from the Exterior of the Building
Check in with our staff right at the door and wash your hands
No more wall! However, there is no longer any access to the side hallway that leads to the office.
Use the open wet room space to hang both your coats and place your boots either on the cubbies or the racks before entering the lobby.
Be sure to exit the correct door and give space to those entering the lobby from the opposite door.
Proof of Vaccination Requirements
All participants, spectators & volunteers ages 12 and over will be required to provide their Vaccine Certificate to enter the building. If you will be providing a Medical Exemption, be sure to follow the process to obtain a COVID-19 Exception certificate which includes the scannable QR code. Please see: https://www.tbdhu.com/vaccinecerts for more details.

To ensure there is space for you to attend, please either email us at tbgatwisters@tbaytel.net or leave us a message at (807)628-8474 specifying your full name and the times in which you are looking for a spectator seat. Lobby Food & Drink
Starting January 3rd, 2022 both Food & Drink (other than water) will not be permitted in the lobby space as per most recent government guidelines regarding spectating.
Masks, Water Bottles & Apparel

Otherwise, the dress code includes:
Lost & Found
Our Lost & Found Bin in the lobby is emptied approximately every 6 weeks. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram and watch for our post listing all of the items before they get donated. We will usually keep the items posted for a week before they go out to give you time to come in.

As any other space, our lobby does have a fire safety capacity limit. To ensure there is space for you to attend, please either email us at tbgatwisters@tbaytel.net or leave us a message at (807)628-8474 specifying your full name and the times in which you are looking for a spectator seat. Otherwise, the dress code includes:

Hello TBGA Community,
On September 14th, 2021 the provincial government released new guidelines regarding Proof of Vaccination. We have worked closely with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit to determine next steps. As a result, we have developed our Proof of Vaccination Policy, which will come into effect on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
Proof of Vaccination Policy
Intent
The Thunder Bay Gymnastics Association has adopted this Policy to increase the protection and safety of our community by reducing the transmission of COVID-19. Our organization is committed to protecting the health and safety of its employees, athletes, and the public during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The organization has implemented this Policy using the Proof of Vaccination Guidance for Businesses and Organizations under the Reopening Ontario Act (as per Section 2.1 of Schedule 1 to O.Ref. 364/20: Rules for Areas at Step 3 and at the Roadmap Exit Step, under the Reopening Ontario A Flexible Response to Covid-19 Act 2020).
Guidelines
COVID-19 vaccinations are not a requirement for athletes at Thunder Bay Gymnastics Association, under the age of 18. Employees and Volunteers are also exempt.
Starting on September 22, 2021 all adults ages 18+ who participate in any of our programming (drop-in classes, adult classes and/or preschool classes) are required to provide Proof of Vaccination demonstrating 2 doses, which must match the name and birth date of their Government Issued ID (Birth Certificate, Health Card, Drivers License, Status Card, Permanent Resident Card) upon first visit. All individuals ages 12+ that wish to spectate within our lobby, are required to provide their Proof of Vaccination alongside their matching Government Issued ID upon first visit. Please remember, you must book your spectator seat in advance by calling us at (807)628-8474.
Any athletes, parents/guardians ages 18+ who provide a written document, completed and supplied by a Physical "MD" or by a Registered Nurse stating that the individual is exempt for a medical reason from being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be permitted on the premises. Please use the Ministry of Ontario Guidelines for what needs to be included on the written document.
All employees and individuals entering the building must continue to use personal protective equipment and abide by the COVID-19 pandemic plan of Thunder Bay Gymnastics Association, whether they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or not. This includes complying with infection prevention practices, such as handwashing and sanitizing, wearing a mask, and informing management if they experience any symptoms related to COVID-19.
What does this mean for you?
1. All athletes under the age of 18 do not have to provide their Proof of Vaccination
2. All parents/guardians who participate in our preschool programming (i.e. Rolli Polli Babies, Tumble Bugs and Busy Bees are required to provide their Proof of Vaccination along with 1 piece of matching Government Issued ID (Birth Certificate, Health Card, Drivers License, Status Card, Permanent Resident Card) upon their first visit on or after September 22, 2021. If you know you will have multiple family members attending with your children, on their first day they must also provide their Proof of Vaccination along with 1 piece of matching Government Issued ID.
3. Any parents/family/guardians ages 12+, who wish to spectate in the lobby will be required to provide their Proof of Vaccination along with 1 piece of matching Government Issued ID (Birth Certificate, Health Card, Drivers License, Status Card, Permanent Resident Card) upon first visit. Please remember you can always join our Livestream!
4. Proof of Vaccination is not required to help your child get ready for class and/or use the washroom, pending you are in the building for no longer than 10 minutes.
5. Any families that can no longer attend can email us at tbgatwisters@tbaytel.net so that we can arrange for either a stored credit or refund for the remainder of the season, excluding the membership/insurance fees.
We will not start collecting Family names and Proof of Vaccination information until September 22, 2021 If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out at (807)628-8474.

Hello TBGA Community Members,
We are so excited to have our programs return this Fall! As we head into our Fall Session A (Sept 7-Oct 30), we would like to send out some reminders and an outline of our COVID-19 Protocols to ensure the safety of our community.

2. Upon check in, you will be asked about symptoms and your temperature will be taken.
3. All parents and participants ages 4+ must wear a mask to enter the facility.
4. Wash you hands after you have put your belongings away on the assigned rack for your group.

1. Have a small bag or a tote bag to carry the following items with you around the gym: Water Bottle, Mask, and a smaller bag for your mask.

3. Ratios are 5 participants to 1 coach (sometimes 1 additional coach-in-training) for all programming except pre-school programs where the ratio is still 5:1 however when including the parents, the ratio becomes 10:1. This has been done to ensure the appropriate spacing of participants, groups, and equipment can be easily achieved at all times.
4. Our lobby has a spectator limit of 8 people at a time. You must book your spectator seats with our office up to one week before the class starts. There will be no pre-booking for an entire session (with the exception of accommodations for children with special requirements) to allow a fair chance for all parents to have an opportunity to view from the lobby. Please call (807)628-8474 to book your spot.
5. All spectators in the lobby, must wear masks and remain in their chosen seats throughout the entirety of the class. We will do our best to also have our tv's streaming the camera angles that are difficult to see from the opposite side of the lobby.
6. If you will not be watching inside our facility, please visit our website to join our protected livestream from the comfort of your car/home! https://www.tbga.ca/join-live-stream.html
*Our livestream is reset every season. If you use to be on livestream and no longer have access, please email us at tbgatwisters@tbaytel.net to reset your account.*
Exiting the Facility:
1. Participants are required to put their masks back on before leaving their last station and entering the lobby.
2. Participants must wash their hands before entering the lobby. Parents watching inside the lobby can assist their children at this time.
3. Parents picking up outside of the facility, must meet the coach/staff at the main door for pickup and not wait in their cars.
Illness:
If you are sick, exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, or have a family member or close friend who is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or being tested please stay home. Send us an email or call us and leave a message. You will be reimbursed for any missed classes due to self-isolation. If you have travelled in the last 14 days outside of Canada before your classes, please check in with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

MARCH 13, 2020
While there have been no changes at this time to the Thunder Bay Gymnastics Association’s standard programming, we wish to be prepared for potential changes. Preparations may include temporarily suspending classes if advised by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit. For now, we have decided to proceed with March Break Camp classes as planned. All other programs both competitive and recreational will continue with the scheduled break/vacation for the March Break from March 14 to March 20. As Drop-in Classes are not part of our standard programming, Drop-ins will be suspended until further notice. However, the situation is changing rapidly, and we are monitoring it closely. Please check this webpage regularly for updates as they arise.
In effort to provide a safe and healthy environment to enjoy gymnastics, TBGA strongly encourages the community to adhere to public advisories. We are taking proactive and preventative measures to prevent against exposure of the virus at TBGA and request our community to adhere to the following protocol:
We have increased our sanitizing efforts in our heavy traffic areas (both caregiver and athlete areas) to several times daily as the health and safety of the TBGA community is paramount. We appreciate your co-operation as we try to provide you with a safe and healthy environment to enjoy gymnastics.
For any families who would prefer to receive a refund of their class instead of proceeding next week, please phone the office, and we will provide the refund.
Please continue to monitor this web page daily for updates.

- Athletes are to bring their own water bottles and avoid sharing with others as we will not be using the water fountain.
- We ask that parents minimize their time in the viewing areas and avoid bringing family members who are not participating in any classes to the facility.
- TBGA would appreciate your cooperation in not sending your child if they have a fever or cough - those who attend who are deemed to be in poor health will be asked to go home
